On Thursday 25 September 2008, the Palheiro Village development was officially inaugurated by His Excellency President Alberto João Jardim of Madeira Island in a ceremony attended by 180 guests including purchasers, clients, key members of the regional government and Funchal town hall, local opinion makers and business people.

Dr Jardim praised Palheiro Village as a “magnificent development” in his opening speech, one of the best projects he has had the pleasure to inaugurate during his long term in office.  Mr Adam Blandy, on behalf of the developer Sociedade Imobiliária Balancal, S.A. talked about the history of the Village from conception in the late 1990’s through to near completion today.

History, tradition and lifestyle are inextricably woven into the whole raison d’être of the development, which is a recent addition to the two centuries old Palheiro Estate which has been in the hands of the Blandy family since 1885.
